My truck has been making a clunking noise from the right side when I hit the brake and released them the last couple days. We had pretty much decided my control arm bushing were bad, until I noticed this today.

Kinja'd!!!

Those are alignment shims wedged between the control arm and the rod that runs through it to hold it to the truck. Rather than them being on the two bolts like they should be, they shoved them in the middle. Over time I assume the control arm bolts have loosened up and now my control arm is (presumably) rocking back and forth on the shims when I stop.

Kinja'd!!!

So now I have to replace the bolts because the threads are totally gone, then take it to work to SAFELY realign it.

That’s if the control arm isn’t damaged, which it might be considering how many shims were there.

Yikes. Someone needs fired.

If you measured the space at the bolts before you pulled the shims out, you should be able to get it pretty close on your own when you replace the bolts.

Hit up side the head with a 2x4, THEN fired and to never be allowed to do alignments again.

Yeah, I haven’t adjusted anything yet and I kept the shims so it shouldn’t be hard to get it right.

Shit, no wonder you’re hearing noises, the duct tape fell off. Wrap it back up and it’ll be right as rain.

We had a cruiser come in way back with a cunk when it turned left. no one could get it to go away . The washbay tech fixed it though when he pulled the half empty whiskey bottle out from under the driver’s seat .
